Explain what historians know about the "origins" of humans and how/ why have humans moved over the centuries?
The first people we know if is the cavemen and nomads they were here in 2.5 million b.c. Archaeologists know this because they have found bones and artifacts that show this much dating. According to archaeologist excavation sites when the Neolithic Revolution started many agricultural cities started being built. These cities caused many cultural changes. Now people were using silt to farm. They were trading their goods for different goods, building irrigation systems and taming animals. Soon after people were migrating from their home lands and immigrating into countries they thought were better. Most of these people migrating or moving were from the east wanting to expand so they moved west, known as the Westward Movement, the largest movement west. As these people were migrating there were other people who were exploring for new lands. These explorations led to imperialism, people wanted all the land they could get their hands on.

Cavemen And Nomads- Cavemen and nomads were one of the first people around. They were around from 2.5 million b.c. to 4,000 b.c. To the left is a picture of some cavemen.
Agricultural cities- Agricultural cities were cities that consisted of many people living in one area. These cities usually had trade and technologies. This picture shows some of the outlines of the homes they built.
Archaeologists- Archaeologists study bones and artifact from long ago. In this picture they are carefully digging a site where ancient things might be found.
Excavation- An excavation site is a site like the one to the left where they carefully dig up ancient bones, cities or artifacts.
Artifacts & Bones- Artifacts and Bones help us to find out what people before were like and how they lived.
Culture- The study of certain civilizations cultures can help historians know common bonds people share with one another. To the left is a picture of the Greek theater their culture used for entertainment.
Neolithic Revolution-
The Neolithic Revolution was a period from 8,000 b.c. to 3,000 b.c. where people learned to polish tools, make pottery, grow crops and raise animals. In this picture you can see people using a sickle to cut down crops and a man walking with his dog.

Trade- Trade became to be huge in agricultural and advanced cities. It allowed people to trade things they didn't need and get things they did need. Here is a picture showing what some trade sites looked like.
Silt- Silt is a fine sand and clay that is carried by water and left. This was huge in ancient times because it helped them to create fertile farms. Here is a picture of a farm that they might have made using silt.
Migration- Migration is when people leave a country and try to find another one that is better. Here is a picture of how some people migrated in the early years.
Exploration- Exploration is looking for new land or oceans. Here is a picture of early voyages people or countries took to discover new lands.
Imperialism- Countries wanted to own the most amount of land that they could. This is called imperialism. To the left is a picture of "countries" fighting over who gets what land.
“The Westward Movement”- The Westward Movement was just what is says, a movement to the west. This was a time when a lot of people moved west. A big factor of this was trains. Trains helped people move things and themselves west.
Immigration= Immigration is people coming into a new land. Here is a picture of Ellis Island, one of the most traveled through immigration sites in america.
